2. Olive Oil:

Olive oil with herbal additives is widely used as a remedy for earache. However, very few know that this oil alone can be used to lubricate your ear and prevent infections. You can directly introduce drops of slightly warmed olive oil inside the ear canal. You can also dip a Q tip in olive oil and rub it inside the ear.

3. Onions:

Onion is crammed with antibacterial and antiseptic properties making it a perfect remedy for earaches. Crush a bulb of onion and wrap in a piece of cloth. Hold this poultice atop the ear for five minutes, 4 to 5 times daily. Warm onion juice and instill 8 to 10 drops twice daily into the ear for faster healing.

5. Apple Cider Vinegar:

Pick up a bottle of ACV the next time you hit the grocers! Apple cider vinegar has a lot of anti-inflammatory ingredients helpful to combat infections. You can introduce a few drops into the canal every twelve hours for best results.

6. Steam:

When you have ear infections, the dry weather can further aggravate your condition. Hot showers help in clearing up your airways and, lower the pressure, and relieve pain. Try using steam if you are comfortable for quicker results. You can use hot water bottles – but make sure it is warm and not hot. Also, wrap it in a towel before holding over your ear.

7. Honey:

8. Peppermint:

Peppermint helps in reducing throbbing pain in the ear. Instill drops of freshly crushed peppermint leaves into the ear. Or, just steep some crushed peppermint leaves in warm olive oil and use this infusion to heal your troubling ear.

9. Licorice:

The anti-inflammatory properties of licorice reduce pain and thwart infection. Warm licorice in melted butter and make a paste. This can be applied around the ear (not inside) twice a day until the pain subsides.

10. Hydrogen Peroxide:

The cleansing nature of hydrogen peroxide can be used for flushing out the foreign material that triggered the infection. Just instill a few drops using a dropper and keep your canal closed with an ear plug for a few minutes. Remove the plug and use an ear swab to clean the debris.
